No sorry that just won't work to withhold payment from a charge the airline didn't make to the card. This is not about travel insurance or non payment for undelivered merchandise. They are in no way equivalent to trying to withhold payment because you incurred a cell phone change to resolve issues. You couldn't charge back AA since AA never made the charge for the cell phone bill.
If the OP had discovered it was not ticketed, then not phoned, then missed the flight. Would he have been entitled to chargeback for the full amount of the taxes, etc.?
