That is also Bayou Classic weekend (which you may or may not already know). Attendance for the game/events that weekend have been declining so you might be able to get some good hotel rates. In the past I would have advised you to stay in the FQ for that weekend because traffic/parking/lines would be brutal and eat up a good chunk of your time. A lot depends on what you're into but you can easily get away with seeing New Orleans and not staying in the French quarter, but if the attendance trend continues on it's current pattern, the t/p/l shouldn't be too bad.
