Hello all,

I rarely stay at Hilton but have 2-3 upcoming trips where I'll be needing to stay at a Doubletree. The price booking direct via AAA is about $7 a day more than booking via hotels.com (because I can get 10% cashback when booking through them). I also can take advantage of the hotels.com rewards program (where I get 1 free night after 10 bookings). Of course, if I book direct I'll earn Hilton points (at either 2x or 3x based on their latest promo). So perhaps I can earn a free night that way too.

I may get 10-12 nights this year (only enough for Silver status). And the hotel I'm staying at offers free wifi, water and newspapers.

So... I'm thinking it makes sense to just book via hotels.com and get the lower price. Any reason I should book direct that I'm missing? Perhaps a status match for 2015?
