Park Plaza Beijing Wangfujing Review

Stayed here for 2 nights this summer based on its relatively high ranking on TripAdvisor (currently #11 out of 5412 hotels in Beijing).

The address is #97 Jinbao Street, but it's not really on Jinbao. Rather it's tucked away behind Jinbao, although there is a small sign on Jinbao to indicate its location.

If your taxi driver can't find it, ask him to look for the Regent Hotel, then go around. The location behind Jinbao is quite nice actually, as it's set off from the main street and more secluded.

I generally had a positive experience at the PPBW, although after staying at the Hilton Wangfujing immediately preceding this, the PPBW felt more like a "family style" hotel.

As a Gold member, I booked a Deluxe room for 2 nights on points. They are loathe to upgrade you based on status, but happy to sell you a paid upgrade. They offered an upgrade package of about 400 RMB/day to their highest tier Executive Suite.

There were some check-in disappointments however.
1) They claimed that the Executive Suite did not have lounge access, although their website clearly says otherwise.
2) They initially tried putting me into the smaller Deluxe Suite(!!) but it smelled like cigarette smoke.
3) The check-in staff spoke poor English.
4) After some arguing, they acknowledged their mistake and put me into the Executive Suite as originally agreed with lounge access.
