When I book them as a round trip, UA837 comes up with R0
This is exactly why I asked earlier - that first flight - UA859 - is likely the issue. If you book the flights you will still be able to upgrade both segments after ticketing with GPU's / miles & money and UA 859 will end up waitlisted...
