It makes me wonder why they went down the OneUp path at all: it alienated the HVC base by removing benefits[1], further undermined the value of Airbucks, leaves revenue on the table, and had costs of integrating an external platform (which IIRC they revenue share with). Now they're possibly going back to something looking vaguely like what they had before. Duh.

As for it being for bookings made through NZ and ex-AKL only, well that's hardly helpful for corporate travelers.

[1] Why would I bother being an NZ FQTV if I can use another/better FFP yet (theoretically) upgrade? NZ seem to have missed the point of the FFP tying stickiness to airline revenue if only "home" elites can upgrade. I certainly stopped bothering to requalify for NZ*G because of their change, which meant I also stopped flying NZ as much.
