Has anyone gone through this process? I'm a recent immigrant to Canada from the US and went to update my nexus at the airport with my new passport, drivers license, address, etc, and show my marriage certificate with my Canadian Confirmation of Permanent Resident (in my old name).

I was told I cannot use nexus and need to wait until I get a new Permanent Resident card in my new name as well before I come back, and that they cannot even update the information in the system until I get a new nexus card in my new name. The lady there told me explicitly that I needed to change my name and get a new card issued using GOES and that I couldn't do it there. She also could not seem to wrap her head around that I had changed my last name as a man (we are a same-sex couple). US CBP lady, of course.. Very confusing information in all. Anyone gone through the experience that could shed some light?
