I discovered the 900 is going to Chengdu on a turn 10/13 - 10/15.

So, my request was instead of going TPA LAX on 10/14, going TPA SFO on 10/14, and then goign SFO IAH EWR on 10/15 flying the 900 back from SFO into IAH.

They wouldn't do it. $500+ additional fare, plus $200 change. I only asked twice, and stressed the sole purpose of the trip was simply to fly the new plane. I gave up. In addition, as a gift I purchased a second ticket for an aviation buff friend of mine who could never afford to do something like this.

I would think they could bend the rules given the circumstances and it's clear in my record what the original equipment was. Oh well. I tried.
