Currently staying here on business and am kind of impressed - probably the best Courtyard I have stayed for years (Bangkok was still a touch better but that was eight years ago or so). Booked this stay at a very low LNF-rate (about 40% of the going rate) and still got treated like royalty. Two days before my arrival my reservation already showed an upgrade to one of their superior rooms, and when I made it here this is what other hotels consider a Junior-suite: King Bed, Desk, Sofa, armchair and a panty area with full-size fridge, microwave, sink and a Nespresso-machine with more pads one could drink over the two days I am here (about 20 regular, decaf and strong). Room-design is the previous generation of courtyards (similar to Munich City-East for example), and my only negative would be the bed that does not have any pillow-top, however I think that is the case for all Courtyards.
Check-in was quick and efficient, the fact that breakfast was included was acknowledged without asking and I also received the Mobility-ticket for my whole stay, so getting around was easy and free. Note that your printed-out confirmation is already your mobility-ticket from either Basel-SBB station or Basel airport to the hotel, so for 3.50 Francs this is really a great deal. As someone mentioned, all weekend-rates include tickets to the Aquabasilea which is next door in the same building-complex. When I made it to the room, I had a welcome amenity waiting for me, and about 30 minutes into my stay I was brought a second one "as a valued Platinum Premier" - nice touch.
I also do not think that the trip to Basel itself is too burdensome - carefully timed in can be done in under 20 minutes door to door. From the Pratteln station take the 79 or 82 bus which takes you to the hotel in two minutes, however the bus stops operating around 9pm, so after that you need to walk.
Breakfast was nice also, and it is 18 Francs for the continental or 28 Francs for the full - my rate included the latter. Offerings were in line what you expect from such a buffet in Europe, and you can order things like omelettes or fried eggs. Quality in general was rather high (e.g. veal-sausage instead of the normal pork) however they had some problems with keeping food hot - I always fished for the lowest sausages to get some warm ones. But the ham and cheese omelette I had was probably the best one I had this year...
So thumbs up to this place - if Switzerland would not be so crazy expensive I could imagine spending a weekend here.
Greetings - Dirk
