Question IC SF Mark Hopkins no upgrade to ambassador?

I've been an IC Ambassador for years now and often stay at their hotels 25-30 nights a year around the world. Normally I login and book a room and we're upgraded, easy (like everyone else)! We need a room with two beds.

However just had a confusing interaction with the hotel about our upcoming stay. I thought I'd see what people's thoughts are, as I'm not sure what IC's official policy is here.

From my conversation their room types are:
Deluxe (availability w/ two beds, $328/ni)
Deluxe City View (no rooms w/ two beds)
Deluxe Bay View (no availability w/ two beds)
Club IC (availability w/ two beds, $348/ni)
Suites (all suites only have one bed)

The website doesn't show the Deluxe City View or Bay View rooms, so I was under the impression that booking a Deluxe would land us an upgrade to a Club IC room (since the price difference was so minor). We want Club access.

The two issues are:

1. Booking a regular Deluxe room (confirmed with two beds) would get us upgraded to a Deluxe City View (king bed w/ a complimentary rollaway). From a guest's perspective, is it still an upgraded room even if it's a room with fewer beds? An upgraded room shouldn't lose features that existed in the original reservation, such as the two beds, in my opinion. It's a clever solution in a pinch, but I don't think a rollaway is a fair substitute for a regular bed. From my understanding of the rules, we should be upgraded to the Club IC with two beds. The reservation agent at the hotel disagreed.

2. After, I asked the reservation agent to book us in the Deluxe Bay View room and upgrade us to the Club IC, but according him there's no difference in price between that room and the Club IC so we booked the Club IC. Now similar problem, there are no rooms above the Club IC with two beds! (I know we finally got the room we originally wanted, but now that we're paying more for that room we should get our free upgrade! ) He said we'd be upgraded to a suite with one King and he'd include a rollaway. None of their suites have two beds. With the exception of a rollaway they can't put another bed in a room. Essentially there is no compatible upgrade for us. Is there something else they could offer? Or is this just getting petty?

So what to do!

Apologies if I posted this incorrectly, I'm new to posting on FT!

Thanks!
