Your apparent goal (upgrading into F with SWU) will be complicated if you ticket the flight as a US codeshare of an AA metal flight.

If they're the same price, why not buy the AA marketed flight?
It's a weird and nuanced reason, but because of corporate contract arrangements, even though we're buying the same ticket, US tickets don't get flagged, while AA would.

Like I said, super weird...
