Line employees won't know you're Plat probably until you've reached CPR. Unless you have a couple of days layover at IAH, the manifests IAH-DEN and DEN-CPR will still say Gold. Being up front may give you priority on re-booking, not whether you're Gold or Plat. Quite a few flights/day to Denver from IAH, but getting you to your destination quicker than another passenger means you might actually get a less desirable seat. Say you miss one flight and UA books you on the next flight. that flight might have all the choice seats taken (F and coach) if under gate control vs the next flight to Denver.
