FYI, Both ORD and DFW have hotels in the airport. Hilton in ORD is right at the terminal buildings, walking distance. There are two Hyatts in DFW. The newer (Grand Hyatt) is connected to Terminal D building. The older (Hyatt Regency) is close to terminal C but is a shuttle bus (or walk across parking garage which you probably don't want to do given your concerns). They won't be the cheapest option but boy are they convenient.
