Unfortunately this is over Easter weekend and one way tickets are running between 37.5 and 65 miles for flights to Vancouver, Seattle, Portland.
That would come out to roughly 300,000 for a week in Canada. We currently have 230,000 AA miles.
I can't seem to find anything that is reasonable and I have tried as many possible routings that I can think of. Since I am a Spanish teacher, I looked at flights from GCM to Lima on the same dates, and that would only cost us 120,000 miles for the entire family roundtrip!
I am avid reader of FlyerTalk posts, but never post. If anyone has any ideas and can help out, I would be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance.
John

Try searching for lower quantities at a time. The website won't return Saaver availability for your party of 5 unless it finds 5 Saver seats. If there are Saver seats available for 2, 3, or 4 people (for example) you could book those and then only pay the higher Aanytime rate for the remainder, which may or may not work out for you.
This might not have any effect but is worth a try.
[QUOTE=mvtm;23465229]I did have a SFO-ORD-MIA return previously, but discarded it as this only worked with an overnight at Chicago. I didn't fancy myself picking cabs at 1am to anywhere, solo young female here. All the options through DFW or ORD wanted an overnight. I'm very glad i changed the SFO-ORD-MIA to SFO-DFW-IND-MIA because despite i get more flying time i would avoid the overnight, arrive the same day and not expose myself to unnecessary stuff.

Overnighting at ORD is perfectly safe. There are many reputable airport area hotels that have hotel shuttle buses to pick you up at the airport and take you back the next day. There is also a Hilton onsite that is directly connected to the terminal - you just walk to it through an inside passageway.
