Normally when keying in the voucher code on IHG the points go on immediately and on your list of account activity it will say something like 'bonus points voucher, holiday inn london Mayfair'
Some hotels add the points themselves and these show as 'hotel welcome points' and when you expand that on account activity it tells you which hotel added them.
If the points haven't added yet the only think can suggest is calling the hotel they can't fob you off when you're on the phone
