Spain to Morocco for the day- Safe? Route Pref? Rec to-do?
Hey FT- Im heading to Spain for thanksgiving (flying into Seville on 11/21, and out of Malaga on 11/28). I (male, 28yo) am traveling with a friend (male, 23yo) that has never been to Africa and wants to "tap" morocco with a day trip via the ferries that run across. Basic idea- take the first ferry over and then the last ferry back all on the same day.
We have looked into heading in/out of Tarifa to Tangier Med.
I wanted to see if anyone had safety concerns in Tangier with everything going on in the middle east/northern Africa with ISIS, etc. If so, and even if not, is there a tour guide recommended to take from Spain across or to meet there? Or will everything be easy enough (and safe enough) to get off the ferry, walk around, shop a bit in the market, sip at cafe, then head back across without issue?
ALSO is Tarifa to Tangier Med the best recommendation for a quick hop over and back?
And if you are still willing/able to help- do you have recommendations for what-to-do in the ~10hrs we might have there?
THANK YOU for all of your help figuring this out with any/all feedback. I couldn't find any recent posts regarding the safety in Tangier/Morocco which is why i started this anew.
(and PS i know Morocco deserves more time then this, but this friend just wants to tap Africa. He's kinda nervous already and just wants to visit for a hot min)
Safe Travels everyone!
