Bringing Rimowa Cabin Multiwheel 32litre on 77-300ER (77W)

Hello,

I am buying a Rimowa Topas 32 litre (reference 920.52.00.4) in Germany in September and I am wondering if anyone has ever had trouble bringing this as a carry-on on an Air Canada or similar flight on a Boeing 777-300ER (77W)?

The bag is listed as on Rimowa's website:
21.7" x 15.7" x 7.9"

The carry on limit for Air-Canada appears to be:
21.5" x 15.5" x 9"

It looks like the dimension of the bag is slightly larger for two of the lengths (.2" height and .2" width too much)

Has anyone ever been denied carry on access with this bag, or forced to check at the gate?

I realize it is at the discretion of the clerks at the gate (as everything at airports seems to be at discretion of someone that is not an expert), however I am looking for real world experience with this bag on this type of plane. Does anyone think that they will actually tell me to check this on an average flight from Frankfurt to Toronto? I will not have a "personal item", just this Rimowa

I do not want to check the bag on its own, so I am debating if I should attempt to carry it on or alternatively I could bring a larger bag to check and put the rimowa inside it to check (protection). I do not want damage to the rimowa is the main concern.

Thank you
