I did the Miraflores option a few months ago when I had a long layover before my late night flight back to the US. Right past the baggage claim area is a luggage storage company that I used to store my carryon. Several taxi drivers were standing nearby soliciting passengers. I found a group of 4 or 5 other people who also wanted to go to Miraflores and we got a taxi-van and split it to help off-set the cost. Spent a few hours walking around, made it down to the beach, went in the casino, etc. When I finally got bored/hot, I found a taxi stand right in the main area and negotiated a rate to get back to LIM. Upon arrival back at LIM, the driver asked if I minded being let off at the main road a short walk to the terminal, saying that he would have to pay some fee to enter the taxi area (??). Since I had gotten a pretty good rate and it was daylight and fairly deserted, I reluctantly agreed and kept an alert eye on the short walk back. I enjoyed walking around Miraflores and checking out all the small parks with great landscaping and interesting art. I'd be happy to share some of the photos of my walk if interested.
