Yes it is silly.

Number 3 seems a bit smarmy especially if it's on a short flight and all I can say about number 4 is......Glasgow High School standards must have dropped since I was a pupil there.
I just say thanks if it's a long haul flight and bye if short haul. If I've chatted with the person at the exit door during the flight I shake their hand.
I've never ever done a welldone for cabin crew as they have always been good.
