Pompano Beach Marriott Resort and Spa
---
This trip report will not begin in the usual Lauderdale by the Sea, but rather a hotel up north in Pompano Beach. I decided to treat myself to some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of family life in an Executive Suite that I managed to PriceLine for only $190.

First impressions: excellent.

Living room with its own TV.
After a nice, long sleep in the fluffy suite bed, I awoke to a Gin Blossom's song playing as my alarm. Gathering up my things, I headed down to the lobby and sat down in the buffet, which is also a multipurpose restaurant modeled after 1930 Prohibition Era speaksies. After gulping down the last of my overpriced hotel food, I ordered a cab from the front desk and set off to FLL.

Breakfast of champions-fruit, oatmeal, and yogurt!

The cab driver loads my three bags into the boot of the taxi. Looks like a got a newer-generation Ford sedan.
The cab driver himself is a middle-aged Haitian gentleman who is currently working in Florida to send money back to his family in Haiti--an honorable cause! We share a brief discussion about the state of the airline industry, what he thinks of America, and an assortment of other small talk before he drops me off at the FLL T1 3M checkin curb.

Driving down A1A, Fort Lauderdale's main beach road, to FLL.

FLL comes into view alongside us with the Broward County Aviation Department of Airport Safety 727.
