I just called for a DC hotel and the front desk manager simply refused to honor it even though I am a platinum member. Everything is fully booked and the prices are $300+ for the rest of the hotels.
Go through IHG rewards , I go through ambassador services and its no issue. Beware they might charge a higher rate then norm.
