In summary, probably go with whichever side is cheaper.
Avoid the autoroute to France between 1730 and 1930 most weekday evenings (whatever junction you enter on), particularly Friday, weekends are OK. Having said that, don't even think about crossing Geneva and the pont du Mont Blanc during rush our. So weekdays don't arrive early evening, basta!
