When returning, regardless of class or time of day luggage takes a minimum of an hour. At T5 99% of the time I'm in the car/cab within 30 minutes
I arrived back on SleazyJet recently, off the plane at 18:45, and was on the 19:20 Gatwick Express, having picked up checked luggage. It probably wasn't the norm, but it does happen.. YMMV.

That said, I must be one of the minority that enjoys the buzz of Heathrow .
