The lounges, especially club are over crowded, especially as they are now consolidated onto one floor, don't offer the range of food.
When returning, regardless of class or time of day luggage takes a minimum of an hour. At T5 99% of the time I'm in the car/cab within 30 minutes
I arrived back on SleazyJet recently, off the plane at 18:45, and was on the 19:20 Gatwick Express, having picked up checked luggage. It probably wasn't the norm, but it does happen.. YMMV.
That said, I must be one of the minority that enjoys the buzz of Heathrow
