I also tried using my US HSBC MasterCard with PayPass at a UK contactless terminal today, and it did work. So, US HSBC MasterCard with contactless should work at any UK terminal with contactless. Maybe it'll stop a cashier from voiding someone's signature slip one day.
I'd laugh if for some reason, the US went all hard core on signature verification for some reason, and cashiers started voiding transactions that were PIN verified. But then, of course, I'm sure VISA/MC would go after it, but not after signature slip voiders. ha!
