IMO suites will be given until they are not. While the Kimpton rep was clear, the comment was that the rules had been clarified. As noted, the T&Cs still exclude suites.

As for transferability, if the rep answered the question, I must have missed it and it is duly noted. That being said, my question still lingers. If transferable, can I trade my tier 1-3 benefits on coupon connection? Moreover, if answered in the way noted, that Karma really doesn't do anything for IC members, I am participating why? A new program where the best customers -- the ones who drank the koolaid and bought into the Kimpton program -- don't benefit from the central scheme, i.e., participation. I'll do some things anyways (happy hour, a restaurant here and there) but there is no reason to go out of my way to participate in a participation based program if there is no benefit for participating. (that was a mouthful)

As an aside, and possibly to explain my whining (needed catharsis?). I did drink the koolaid but over the last many months, the program has faded. I don't spend my own $ for Kimpton rooms, I pay for the great CS, not to have it be hit and miss. I could have kept SPG Plt for that. The koolaid tasted good but service has gone from a manager bringing in her dog for me for happy hour (as per my special request) to a recent stay where the manager, based on previous dodgy service, promised a wonderful time (i.e., the world). At check in, nothing on the record from the manager. Nothing noted or acknowledged even as I showed the check in agent the Manager's email to me. At least the amenity would be correct (close) right? The amenity was a different colored white (red requested, white delivered) and a bag of bacon covered something (I don't eat pork). The room was similar to what I had on my previous visit (very nice room but note that August in DC is dead season). Ok the manager dropped the ball on the promise but why would the front desk steer me away from the restaurant all the while noting the formalness of the restaurant (however there is no dress code). Etc. The desk agent's performance has been too typical lately. It is not every stay but it's becoming very UA-like, namely wondering what if going to happen on today's flight (hotel stay) and going from a wonderful transcon to a poor CS showing.

My few cents and I'll back off a bit now. No "winning" fighting city hall.

Cheers

All other Kimpton web communications (FT, Twitter, Facebook) explain that upgrades are not guaranteed (most of us understand that they never were) and that if suites are available the property can choose to upgrade a guest to those rooms at their discretion.

I don't see the need to mention suites at all in the T&C's. That would match the message from the Karma team. Problem solved.

I can offer you our experience that we have transferred Tier 3 benefits to the account of a relative who has then successfully used them.
