The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers said on Friday that it was not in talks with Carl Icahn to make a bid to purchase Trans World Airlines Inc. (TWAIQ.OB).

``We are prepared to review all legitimate proposals regarding TWA, with the exception of those that include Mr. Icahn, who recently terminated pension plans for 16,000 IAM members at TWA,'' said Robert Roach Jr., general vice president for the machinists union. ``For representatives of the TWA Acquisitions Group to imply that the machinists are involved in any way with their bid is a bold-face lie.''
