In its bid to acquire Trans World Airlines, American Airlines is facing an unlikely competitor.
Little is known about Donald R. Moody, a Clark County, Wash., investor whose company, Jet Acquisitions Group, plans to offer $1 billion for the company, according to The Oregonian in Portland, Ore.
On Tuesday, TWA spokeswoman Julia Bishop-Cross said the group has yet to submit a formal bid, but a spokeswoman for Jet Acquisitions said the company would be filing a bid. The deadline to file is Wednesday.
