It's not about daily usability. It's all the stuff under the hood:
-Architecture
-Security
-bug fixes and patches
-support for modern hardware, which in turn is required by a lot of modern software. Modern software receives support and will be patched for security issues and bugs.

If you're using An old browser and OS still, all it takes is one malicious website to install something nasty on your computer.
