If you REALLY REALLY REALLY need a new XP laptop, look into a Panasonic Toughbook. They are one of the last laptops that I know of which can be downgraded into XP with relatively modern specs - i5, 4+GB of RAM, etc. They are designed for professional use with programs/external devices which do not have support for anything above XP.

Not cheap, but a very good laptop. Tough, fast, with 10+ hours of ACTUAL battery life.
