I have found a First Class award on AA from DFW to OGG very difficult to find. LAX is not as nice, but easier. I like the 763 option to and from DFW better that the 757 from LAX, so I have been buying coach seats and upgrading with miles and co pay.
I fly from ORD in March. I suggest you buy a subscription for Expert Flyer. You can set some alerts for your desired flights. It might be easier in November, December, or January.
