Well-put. Sometimes newer is just not better (e.g., Office) for everyday needs.
What I will say, though, is that I have found the error-handling in Win7 to be much better than in XP. I almost never have a misbehaving program take down and BSOD the whole system as happened with increasing frequency in XP.
