The best use is any available seats you can find. There is sometimes decent MileSaaver availability, but it requires intense searching and may require you travel on off-peak days.
If you're willing to pay for an AAnytime award seat - you can be more picky about when you fly. You're best seat is probably through DFW on the wide-bodies to OGG, but HA or AS are decent options as well.
