Can other people transfer Amex points to my Delta Skymiles?

I need about 30k points for my Delta Skymiles and was thinking to exchange points with my friend.

Has anyone done this recently? Does it work?

If my friend has Amex Plat, can he do that? Will there be any trouble for either side of the party? (Amex or Delta)
