Luckily the US pays zero attention to travel by US passport holders. Most of my travel is on my Brazilian passport, so I typically enter and leave the US with no evidence of how I was able to be wherever i was before. they do not care.

OTOH, US air carriers typically do not have very knowledgable staff IME AA is never a problem but most other US carriers are not. No non-US carrier has ever made a problem for me. In fact no US carrier has made a problem recently.
