Three rentals to report on:
Thursday August 21
LHR
5*
Booked: D - Skoda Octavia or similar
Received: K - Volvo V40 - no idea what a K is supposed to be (small people carrier/SUV?) but a V40 is basically a Ford Focus with a private education. Still, it wasl loaded with nav, adaptive cruise control, leather and blind spot warning. $40 per day all in.
Friday August 22
MXP (Milan Malpensa)
5*
Booked: C (economy) Fiat Punto
Received: D (compact) Renault Captur
Again with standard nav, great fuel economy (70 mp(Imperial)g). The actual selection of cars in the garage was much more impressive than on the website so perhaps I'd have booked a higher group had I known. However I was more than happy. Rate was $43 per day.
Friday August 22
LHR
5*
Booked: C (compact) Ford Focus
Offered: K? - Mitsubishi ASX diesel 4wd
I couldn't live with the ASX and would have been prepared to walk out of there with any compact, preferably with a diesel engine. However I was initially offered a Mazda CX5 but, although I'd have taken that any day over the ASX, I had said I didn't want an SUV so decided to stick with the request for something else.
Took: Audi A4 (X) - with factory nav and parking sensors, in S-Line spec although only ~140 bhp from the diesel engine. However given that the rate is $24 per day, all in, with LDW (as are the other two) I'm more than happy.
