In July I passed customs in IAH which has many kiosks and the wait was long. Despite landing with 45 minutes to spare, I did not make my connection. Part of this was TSA, not customs.

Yesterday, I passed customs in LAX without kiosks and the wait was about 15 minutes. Nobody was complaining. People were just joking and laughing and pushing their suitcases forward. TSA was also fast, as it often is in the afternoon on west coast airport.

A lot of people, including frequent flyers, just don't care. 15-20 minutes clearing CBP after a 12-hour flight is not that big a deal. At this point, you are tired and sort of zoned out anyway.

Immigration in London wasn't any better. T2 uses a communal immigration area as most airports do and the line was slow. T2 requires good athletic condition too. The distance from UA gate to the tube felt like it was about 2 miles. There were at least 7 moving sidewalks, a couple of escalators and an elevator to navigate.

If it really bothers you having to spend so much time traveling, then get a job where it is not required. I am a shoolteacher and I never have to travel on business. I don't see how IK million milers who probably make 5 times as much money as I do can complain so much about the hassles of traveling. You made you choice to be a globe-trotting executive and if you don't like the travel, find another job.
Do you not have access to fast track in LHR?
My fastest was no queue on a BCNLGW flight as I was the first non EU national off the plane so comparisons even for non status can vary.
Also, I somehow doubt you make 16000 USD or so as that is barely above minimum wage for a job that requires a degree.
