You say your experience of NH was quite different to what had been reported by others: so it's hard to see why you continue to press for the subjective views of strangers.

It's economy class you're asking about and economy sucks: economy without status sucks even more.

Between (sensible) airlines variations in levels of comfort aren't that great, aircraft type being equal.

And thats the key - just about anyone's A380 is nicer to fly in than a B747. There again you might have a fabulous flight on a B747 if you get a centre block of seats all to yourself. Comfort is subjective and horribly specific to a single flight.

Once again - status represents the single greatest way to improve your lot on an economy-class trip.
