In my experience, it is more likely that I will have to change 1 segment vs. cancelling the entire trip. 2 one-ways wherever possible saves you a ton of hassle

But then if you need to adjust the outbound by a day and the return by a day (at the same time), you get hit with 2 change fees instead of one.
