True. If the OP does some family travel as well then maybe it's worth going for an airline that has a good family membership program so that all miles could be pooled together from both corporate and leisure travel?

BA is probably the top airline in this regard. But if the OP is based in Singapore and travelling mainly to the US or Germany then going with a Star Alliance carrier might be a better choice unless the bulk of that travel is to the US and AA happen to have some good fares, connection times, etc.
