Though the lack of power has been a complaint of mine for a good while, there are AC outlets at least on the 757, 767, and A330 fleets in each seat up front (plus USB in both classes on the A330), so there are *some* US planes with *some* power. These were all added during retrofits of the cabins (save the majority of 332s which were delivered with Envoy Suites), of which none have been debuted since the merger.

I think competitively they'll have to add them. Fortunately, the equipment for these weigh less nowadays - Empower was large, didn't work well in my experience, and I recall needing to haul 3+ pounds of an adapter and supporting wires and plugs. Glad that's pretty much gone.
