I just did this exact thing couple weeks ago. Called United and I had both UA record locators within a couple minutes and added to my account.

I doubt there will be any issue checking in at airport. These cross airline reservations just don't play nice sometimes, I wouldn't worry too much if it says ticketed and confirmed.
