But...as you might imagine, a threat of possible terrorist attacks in the Persian Gulf, Arabian Peninsula & Turkey prompted the US State Department to urge caution for all US travelers visiting these regions. "The US government has indications that individuals may be planning terrorist actions against US citizens and interests" in those areas, the federal agency said.

An official familiar with intelligence reports said the US is getting "a lot of conflicting reports, but there does seem to be a nexus in these three areas." Much of the information is related to people "probably associated with Osama bin Laden ... people looking to go after the US in the region," the source said.
