If you don't care for IFE or food (I put some emphasis on the former, though I'm with you on the latter and prefer to eat pre/post flight), then I would certainly look at flight connection times, choice of transfer airports, departure hours, etc. to make sure your trips are as hassle-free as possible. I think this will help out more than the difference between a BA or LH econ seat for example.
Apart from that I would concentrate on status and all the benefits that come along with it. Look at how many miles you will be clocking up each year and go with an airline+FFP that will reward you with status. This can make a HUGE difference, especially when flying in Y. You would potentially be looking at business class check-in, extra luggage allowance (useful if you can get a bit of shopping done on some of those trips), lounge access.
One more thing I forgot about which is quite important is seat selection, especially in Y. Some airlines will let you choose your seats without any hitches, others will charge you for it unless it's OLCI time. Status could also play a key role here, which is one more reason to concentrate on that.
I agree with you 100% - assuming the OP's employer allows him/her to accrue status in a personal account (a small number - for a variety of reasons - don't). Guess I'd also want to know where the OP is based. Seems to be Singapore - but that assumption might be incorrect. Also - where most of his/her trips are - to the US or Europe - assuming they're not 50/50 or so.
Also - where the OP might care to use any accrued miles - what kinds of trips and to where.
In terms of the routes the OP mentioned - even though I am certainly not a road warrior - Star Alliance came to mind. It has Singapore Airlines and United and Lufthansa. Since I'm not a "road warrior" - I have no idea which carrier would be best as a "primary carrier" in terms of status/upgrades within Star Alliance. I know people complain all the time about United - but I'd bet Singapore Airlines isn't a bed of roses either. When I was booking my trip to Singapore - I found it much much easier to get middle/front of the plane reward tickets on United than Singapore Airlines. Don't know what the situation is when it comes to upgrades or other perks. Robyn
