Myself and the wife are going to be shortly moving internationally for family reasons.

We've got a one way Alitalia ticket out of LHR T4. We're overnighting at the holiday inn and getting the 0645 flight out.

My worry is the baggage. Can someone please give me a quick overview of how hardball they are about limits ?. Do they let you get away if you are slightly over your limits ?

I'm planning on buying 1 extra bag per pax so we will have 4 bags in total + hand luggage. I'm a bit of a tech geek so will be carrying a lot of electronics, if I have a roll aboard thats more or less within weight limits will they question the laptop rucksack?

We've got a 3 hour transfer or so in FCO before our afternoon flight - I'm assuming we'll be staying in the non schengen area having a transcon flight.

Any tips / thoughts that anyone has regarding a trans con Alitalia flight and things to watch out regarding luggage would be appreciated.
