Look at it this way. On paper, the breakfast spreads at a flagship Jinjiang property are basically the same as at a Peninsula (e.g. eggs, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, tea). Most of us understand that the latter is categorically better, but if colored sugar water is what you know as "orange juice" (for example), the differences are hard to qualify, and of course the catering contract for lounge X should go to a true Chinese company.
Just as a general observation, my limited experiences being hosted by government and affiliated people have shown that
Chinese food ingredients are top notch:
Local, seasonal and organic meat, fish (organic as it's not wild) and veggies of a quality one almost cannot find on the private market and then the inevitable "premium brand" baijiu and cigarettes.
I wouldn't even dream, however, of getting a decent OJ or a plate of eggs benedict at any of the government & party venues.
