Here's another vote for the Visa functionality. But come to think of it, I would miss talking to the friendly SFO staff and the boarding process for 747 is so crazy now, that keeping the "DOCS OK" check at the counter may not be a bad idea.
That's exactly what it means. I don't know about visas to countries other than China, but some of the China visas are short in validity. I usually get two-year visas or longer, but many colleagues can't get more than 6-month validity. Unless the back-end processor can connect to China systems, I could see this verification being very difficult to enable.

One more data point: I tried the passport scan just now for a UA SFO-FRA-JNB (last leg on LH) itinerary. No visa needed for US passport holders to South Africa (but you need two blank pages.) No dice, still "unable to issue boarding pass".
