I would consider checking out 3 parts of the world, Central America. Southeast Asia, and sub-saharan Africa. Many countries in these areas are cheaper, plus in my opinion, the cultures are further from our own than, say, the UK is from ours. Just one person's opinion. Examples of countries you might consider are Thailand, Laos, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Tanzania, and Keyna. There are many others, and I'm sure I've got my own personal preferences wrapped up into this. But I have enjoyed the countries I've visited in these parts of the world, and, cost-wise, they can be a bargain to visit.
