Well i can now answer my own question. I had tried calling EY and they could not answer the question.
When i got to JFK i tried to check in my bags and was told i could only check in within 3 hours of the flight...even flying F.
There is a place on the lower level of that terminal where you can leave your bags for a few bucks a day. We utilized that service.
