So many folks had their own headsets that it was a losing battle to charge for the official sets. The FAs always allowed my kids to use their own sets if they niticed that they had them and refused payment for their use. And they rarely bothered others who tried to beat the system. I almost never watch the films, so it does not affect me, but I think the positive effects for the FAs are many. No money to be collected and probably no cords to be distributed or collected, they can be placed in the seat back. No change to be returned. That alone saves lots of trips down the aisles.
