When you consider that one option is AA 777-300 and direct aisle seating you have to wonder why anyone would.
I agree it looks extortionate but your post raises a point I hadn't thought about. Under this new option, if your status allows, will the temporarily held booking be available on MMB to select seats before purchase? It looks like it will but whether you'll be able to pay for seat selection at that stage looks more doubtful.
